Statement

The ability to be anywhere in the world in a few hours is collapsing our existing sense of place and community. With greater frequency, our relationships towards each other and our world are mediated by virtual moments and flight schedules. This nomad consciousness contributes to the sense of transience and dislocation so common within my generation. Our mass transit systems, airports and refugee migration patterns are artifacts of a larger narrative unfolding by the minute on the media stream of your choice.

My work is investigating the loss of community in the twenty-first century. Specifically how our built environments, institutions and systems contribute to the accelerated pace of life and growing sense of displacement I feel personally and see festering in the world around me.
